My stress levels at this point were blowing through the roof. When I first got sick with the weird GI infection of 1995, I started taking walks around my block. Eventually, I migrated to driving. I plotted out a course around the city of Philadelphia where I was living at the time and on most late evenings, I would take my car for a spin around the city. I am not sure how this de-stresses me. Perhaps when I am driving, I am in control and that was the one thing I lacked when it came to my condition.

I continued this practice after I moved to New York during later phases of the condition. Over the years, this became my major stress reducer.
